The main executor of the projects is the Centre for Learning Innovation and Adult Learning operating within the Institute of Continuous Engineering Education.

The Digitally Signed Credentials – Smart Motivation with Stackability (DISCO SMS) project ( Erasmus+ KA2 Strategic Partnerships, Project No. 2024-1-HU01-KA220-VET-000247638, runtime 01.11.2024 – 30.10.2026) is the continuation of the DISCO VET project dedicated to transforming education and training by putting soft skills in the spotlight. In today’s dynamic and multicultural world, the ability to communicate, collaborate, adapt, and grow emotionally is just as essential as technical know-how. That’s why DISCO SMS is creating a powerful methodology that helps recognize and reward these vital skills using Open Badge technology. At the heart of the project is a training course for VET teachers and trainers, integrating gamification and digital badges to acknowledge learners’ soft skills in a way that is visible, portable, multilingual, and meaningful in both social and professional contexts.

The project also tackles the advancement of the DcP badge issuing host with Stackable Digital Badges featuring standardized multilingual metadata.

The Digital-Reskilling at Universities (D-RESKILL@U) project (Erasmus+KA2 Cooperation partnerships in higher education2021-1-FR01-KA220-HED-000023060, runtime: 1.11.2021 – 30.10.2023) was developed as a response to the challenges faced by European training institutions, particularly in the field of lifelong learning, amidst ongoing health, social, and environmental crises. Recognizing the urgent need for effective and affordable upskilling and reskilling tools, the project aimed to enhance workforce employability during a period of rapidly changing work patterns. Coordinated by Sorbonne Université, it provided European higher education institutions with guidelines for creating innovative online lifelong learning programs at the post-bachelor’s level. The partners developed a strategy aligned with the European Skills Agenda, prioritising equity and inclusivity as key drivers of socioeconomic development. The project emphasised the pivotal role of public universities in delivering lifelong learning opportunities that were accessible, practical, and responsive, leveraging the European Skills/Competences, Qualifications, and Occupations (ESCO) database and advanced digital tools for career guidance. Through its collaborative and innovative approach, the D-RESKILL@U project laid the groundwork for more inclusive and adaptable lifelong learning models in Europe.

The Digitally Signed Credentials and Open Badges in VET and HE (DISCO VET) project (Erasmus + KA2 Strategic Partnerships, Project No. 2020-1-HU01-KA202-078793, runtime: 1.11.2020 – 28.2.2023) focused on advancing digital certification and credentialization in education by leveraging Open Badges and open educational practices, particularly in the context of vocational education and training (VET) and continuous professional development (CPD). The project addressed the growing need for flexible and standardized digital credentials.

The main results include the creation of a Displayer Platform: an open-source repository was developed for issuing, earning, storing, and displaying badges with enhanced search and management features. The platform was integrated with the Europass Digital Credential Infrastructure (EDCI), allowing for interoperability and further development and is available here:  https://dcp.discovet.eu/. The other main result is a 30-hour course on open badges and digitally signed credentials for issuers.

The Data Understanding and Communication Knowledge and Skills for Trainers and Teachers in VET and HE (DUCK) project (Erasmus+ KA2 Strategic Partnerships – 2018-1-HU01-KA202-047809, runtime: 11.1.2018 – 28.2.2021) developed online training modules on Data Understanding and Communication (DUC) for CPD, VET, and HE contexts. Aimed at teachers, trainers, and their students, it strengthened skills in data analysis and presentation to enhance teaching and employability.

As industries increasingly depend on data from IoT and Big Data, strong analytical and communication skills became essential. Despite easier access to Business Intelligence tools, gaps in data storytelling, visualisation, and basic analysis persisted—also affecting how teachers use assessment data to improve learning outcomes. The project equipped educators with practical tools to meet the growing demand for data literacy in both education and the labour market.

The Vocational Online Collaboration for Active Learning (VOCAL) project (Erasmus+ KA2 Strategic Partnerships, Project No. 2016-1-HU01-KA202-022916, runtime: 1.10.2016 – 30.9.2018) fostered the open collaboration of HE teachers and VET trainers to design online, open and collaborative learning activities for diverse target groups embedding digital, social, and intercultural competences. The partnership developed training materials and organise face-to-face, week long training events where teachers and trainers were be able to develop skills to digitalise quality learning resources, to design online collaborative learning activities embedding digital, social, and intercultural competence development, and to tutor international, intercultural diverse learner groups; collaborate designing mutually online and open curriculum for diverse international learner groups; and establish open educational practices for future references. The project enhanced access to training for all through C-VET developing online and open curriculum and empowering teacher and trainer collaboration.

The Added VALue Learning for Preschool Teachers & Pedagogical Coordinators (AVAL) project (Erasmus+ KA2 Strategic Partnerships
2017-1-ES01-KA201-038113, runtime: 1.11.2015 – 30.10.2018) focused on promoting value-based education as a core component of learning for children aged 3 to 12. Led by AMEI-WAECE and involving partners from nine European countries, the project addressed the need to modernize education by incorporating ethical, social, democratic, and environmental values into the curriculum. The project developed 45 educational units designed to teach values through interactive and practical classroom activities. These resources, available in multiple languages, aim to equip educators with tools to foster essential life values, moving beyond traditional academic content. Validated through various phases, the materials are now accessible online to support educators in implementing value-based education in a responsible and impactful way.

The Continuing Education to Preschool Teachers and Education Directors through Online Trainings (EduTeach) project (Erasmus+ KA2 Strategic Partnerships, VG-SPS-BY-15-36-013864, runtime: 1.9.2015 – 31.8.2018) was an international, interdisciplinary, and collaborative project funded by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ program. The aim of the EduTeach project was to design, test, and implement a modular training program adapted to the needs and interests of those responsible for the education and care of young children (0-6 years) across Europe. To enable both flexible and individual learning, the training offerings were based on ICT and incorporated a fair balance between interactive and self-study learning activities. Using results from a user needs analysis and evaluations of the implementation of trainings, EduTeach further aimed to advance research and development on models, methods, and didactic strategies for effective online training for educators, preschool teachers, and education directors. The results included:
– a series of interactive, media-enriched learning modules;
– a database containing digital learning material in 8 European languages;
– a learning platform that served as the host environment for the online training program.

The Digital Resources as a new strategical factor for a renovation of modernization in Higher Education (D-TRANSFORM) project (KA2 Strategic Partnerships, 2014-1-FR01-KA203-002425, runtime: 1.9.2014 – 31.8.2017) contributed to the modernisation of Europe’s higher education systems as outlined in the 2011 EU Modernisation agenda. Among key targets outlined by the Commission, D-TRANSFORM took into account the need for: 1. improving the quality and relevance of higher education (HE) through new technologies and more flexible and personalized teaching and 2. increasing investment in HE, through more diversified and flexible funding sources (drawing to a larger extent on private funding). The project implemented a training program for leaders of European universities (presidents, vice-presidents) focusing on the major role played by digital technologies (MOOCS, etc.) and Open Educational Resources (OER) in the necessary transformation of their institutions.
